Let's Head to Maine!

Where are we going in 2022!

January, 2022

The nice thing about being mobile is that you can always go home when you are homesick. For us, we usually head home sometime in November to be home for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Since my parents live in College Station and the rest of our children are spread out over the state of Texas, we always make a point to spend some time with everyone. This year, we had a 50 amp plug installed in our son and daughter in law's barn so that we could basically mooch dock at their place or leave the RV there when we went cruising. We also got to see our granddaughter play basketball and went to a couple of baseball games too.

On January 16, we headed to Athens, Texas so that Robert could attend the National RV Training Academy. He received educational training in water systems, electrical systems, how to troubleshoot issues with LP gas and a myriad of others items related to being able to work on your own RV. There is an option to get certified as a RV tech but that isn't something Robert is interested in right now. For me, I got to spend a little time working on my painting and catching up on editing pictures.

At the end of January, we left the rig there and headed to Galveston to go on a week long cruise with our photography friends from Texas School. The cruise was the first one we had been on since the restrictions went into place about Covid. It was lots of fun to get out and enjoy time with our friends.

February, 2022

Ah the joys of cruising with friends! January 30th, we headed to Galveston and met up with about 40 of our friends who came from various states to enjoy some time in cruising on Royal Caribbean Costa Maya, Belize and Cozumel. In Costa Maya, we enjoyed time on the beach with personal massages, huge servings of ceviche and some time in the sun...well, not really, it was pretty overcast when we got there. In Belize, we did a fun excursion with 4 of our friends and zip lined through the jungle, floated through a cave on inner tubes and finished up with time in a UTV that was the highlight of my day, because I got to drive. I'll post video of that on our website. The following day we cruised into Cozumel and did a pirate ship adventure that was a complete blast! The pirate crew were amazing and the food was delicious! The rest of the trip was spent playing bingo, participating in trivia games and hanging out at one of the bars on the ship or in the hot tub with friends! What a great start to 2022!

Then not even a whole week later, Robert and I flew to Los Angelos to board a Princess Cruise to the Hawaiian Islands. We would have 5 sea days, then tour Ohau, Maui, Hawaii and finally Kauai. Then 5 days at sea and finish up in the port of Ensenada and back to LA. This cruise was a little more intensive in that we wound up having to do 3 PCR tests before getting to Hawaii but after that, there was no more testing. Getting back to LA and getting off the boat was not so bad and we were back in Houston by 9:30pm that same day.

The very next day we picked up our 2018 Holiday Rambler Endeavor at the place where Robert was having 4 of the lithium batteries installed. We are getting ready to install two more when we get to our next week long stay but for now, we are sitting pretty with some reserve power. At the same time, we had the PepWave, a Cellular booster antenna, a DCDC converter and new slide out toppers installed. These upgrades will be helpful in several different ways that we will talk about later as we boondock more and more.

March, 2022

March came so fast that I couldn't believe it was time to get on the road. We got home on February 28th, picked up the RV on March 1st and headed to College Station to say goodbye to my parents. Then it was a quick trip over to Lago Vista to see our youngest daughter and her family. Our grandson was performing in a One Act Play before UIL contest so we got to see him perform. The next day it was Dim Sum in downtown Austin at a great restaurant, QI and then on Sunday, I was my daughter's lighting assistant so that she could get senior portraits done of our grandson. It's hard to believe that he will be 18 in April and graduating from high school.

Too soon it was time to leave Lago Vista and head to Ft. Worth where we would mooch dock at a friend's house and see our middle daughter and her husband before leaving for Louisiana. Our friends in Ft. Worth have a nice space for us to park the RV then, we hook up to their electric in her photography studio and we spend the night in their guest house. It is such a great place to hang out. We generally have dinner with them and watch a movie in their media room and just relax.
